Helping Hands

Kehila has a long tradition of working to protect the lives, rights, and dignity of those outside of our own community. The Social Action Committee organizes and publicizes opportunities for individuals and families to contribute to this work.

Social action opportunities are announced in the Kehila newsletter and via e-mails. For 2018-2019, they include:

  • Donations
  • Social Advocacy
    • Social Advocacy.  Advocating for those in need, through education and support for social policy and legislative efforts at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Volunteer Opportunities
    • Shepherd's Table.  Volunteering to serve dinner for the homeless once a month.
    • Interfaith Clothing Center. Volunteering once a month to help organize clothing and other goods offered to qualifying area families without charge.
    • Aid to Refugee Families.  Donating home furnishing and setting up an apartment for a refugee family.

Additional opportunities will be pursued as resources permit.  Questions, suggestions, or a desire to volunteer?  Contact the Social Action Committee co-chairs, Diane Garfield and Tammy Trocki.
