 Kehila Membership
The central theme of Kehila Chadasha (translated, a "new community") could be described as the joy of being Jewish. This encompasses celebration, study, intellectual curiosity, humaneness, mutual cooperation, openness, and the sense of Jewish Community. While the Community, founded in 1978, cherishes Jewish heritage, history and traditions, its approach is non-dogmatic. Community members feel comfortable with their beliefs and non-beliefs, welcoming the opportunity to freely explore, clarify, critique, and absorb new knowledge.

The Kehila is an intentionally small community of less than 100 households. The Community is a member-directed organization that relies on the active participation of its members to organize activities. Most activities are planned through a committee of member-volunteers who bring their own creativity to their committee responsibilities. Community members are expected to serve on committees as chairs or co-chairs, to assist committees in their work, and to volunteer to help in community activities, programs, and projects.

David Shneyer is Kehila's rabbi and spiritual leader.
