Aid to Refugee Families

Kehila families helped two refugee families being resettled in Maryland through HIAS during 2017-2018.  Kehila members donated furniture, time, purchased goods, transportation, and storage space to furnish an apartment for a refugee family to help them materially and to make them feel welcome in their new country.  Refugees hoping to resettle into the United States undergo a thorough and lengthy screening process before a limited number are accepted.

Kehila hopes to help additional families in 2018-2019, assuming that more refugees will be allowed into the country.  We are also exploring other ways to help families who are already in the United States.

Barbara Jasny is the Aid to Refugee Families coordinator.  Watch for announcements on the Kehila Cybershletl.
